  • The mission of RISK function is to provide Senior Management of the Group and of the Operating Divisions with full transparency and dynamic analysis of the risks and clients managed by the various operating divisions: Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), Retail Banking, Investment & Protection Services (IPS)
  • The scope of the RISK function within CIB in London is:
    1. Market and Liquidity risks: covering the CIB capital markets activities, ALM Treasury as well as the IPS Business Units

Department Overview:

BNPP Group Personal Data Protection framework, defined to respond to applicable privacy regulations throughout BNPP territories, relies on the accountability of teams within BNPP entities in their processing of Personal Data (customer, employees, UBOs, representatives of corporate, vendors, etc.)

Data Protection Office (DPO) is part of the RISK Department within BNP Paribas, positioned in the 2nd Line of Defence. Integrated within the Iberian Centre of Excellence, the DPC must assist the Business Line DPO and contribute to supervise the compliance with data protection regulations and Group policies and guidelines, oversighting/ensure the control framework, and give the necessary guidance/advice to support the 1st Line of Defence.

The 1st Line of Defence (Business, IT and CDO), managing the operations, has the responsibility to embed data protection regulations and Group policies and guidelines in the internal organization, processes and tools/assets (e.g. IT, DB’s, contracts, etc.) within its perimeter (e.g. privacy by design, PIA, security measures, etc.)

ABOUT THE JOB:

Mission and Responsibilities

As the second line of defence, you will ensure the robustness of the Personal Data Protection and Operational Risk and Permanent Control (ROPC) framework and its alignment with the Group’s standards through the main following actions:

  • Contribute to role development by validating data protection requirements for new activities, new products, services or specific operations, and to carry technical assistance
  • Ensure data protection requirements are taken into account into projects (privacy by design)   
  • Receive, process and advise internal and external local solicitations about data protection
  • Contribute to perform risk assessment on personal data breaches  
  • Risk & Control Self-Assessment review and control plan challenge (regarding Privacy risks)
  • Check & challenge the Data Protection and Privacy control framework to ensure the relevance and proper execution of the controls implemented/executed by the 1st Line of Defence (business, IT, data management, etc)
  • Assess and advise the incidents with impact/linked with Data Protection and Privacy risks
  • Verify and assess the implementation of recommendations and action plans to mitigate Privacy risks, notably identified by internal assessments (internal audit, control functions) or external supervision missions (regulators).

Experience Required:

  • More than 3 years of effective professional experience combined with at least one successful experience in a position related to internal control (e.g. DPC, Privacy leader, Operational Permanent Control Officer, Auditor, or other)
  • Know how to bring concrete and operational solutions according to business, as to take hindsight and a measured look.
  • English Fluent mandatory 
  • French is a plus

DPC is positioned in the 2nd line of Defense (within RISK function) and is responsible for the scope outlined under his/her responsibility. Your Main Activities Are

The key responsibilities of a Data Protection Correspondent are:

  • Communication with internal (e.g. employees) and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the Territory DPO on exchanges with the authorities in charge of the protection of personal data, in coordination with the Business Line DPO.
  • Assist the Territory DPO in the supervision and monitoring of implementation of its main responsibilities,, including as follows:
  • Review and advise on implementation of Group policies and guidelines on Personal Data Protection and monitor consistency in their implementation (Consent collection process, cross border transfers, management of retention or personal data obsolescence)
  • Review and advise on implementation of Privacy by design principles from the design stage and during the lifecycle of all projects, products, services, activities, processes and systems
  • Provide advice on Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), e.g. whether or not to carry out a PIA, what methodology to follow, what safeguards to apply to mitigate risks to the rights and interests of individuals) and monitor that PIAs are performed correctly 
  • Monitor the local implementation of Group security strategy in line with Personal Data Protection regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to risk evaluation in case a personal data breach occurred to ensure in a timely manner
  • Participate in local Data Protection Committees when  requested by the DPO.
  • Support the relevant DPO to oversee the Records of Processing Activities (“ROPA”)
  • Supervise and escalate cases of non-compliance with regulations, to data protection authorities as well as local and central Senior Management.
  • Where required, assist the DPO with regards to local language, law and practices.
  • Assist in the construction and implementation of the awareness program and contribute to the promotion of a culture of protection of personal data within its scope of responsibility.

  • The Funds Execution Team ensures the execution of all orders on investment funds, in the Wealth Management (WM) business line. The KYC Officer mission is to ensure that all KYC files are in compliance with the applicable policies and procedures and accurately coded in the various systems of the bank.
