  • The Finance Capital Markets Products Controller mission is to ensure the reliability, sincerity, integrity and the exhaustiveness of the accounting delivered by the upstreams chains (Front to Back) and organisation (Operations – Back and Middle Office). This position works within the BNP Paribas’ GECD business that encompasses research, structuring, trading and sales of equity, index and fund derivatives

Your Main Activities Are

  • Ensure the accounting control level one on a dedicated perimeter of products within your team and ensure proper justification on all accounting control, among which is reconciliation with operations data inventory and reconciliation of sensitives accounts
  • Analyse breaks and operational or financial risks, as well as monitoring and follow-up of discrepancies resolution and manage escalations to the management if needed
  • Ensure a good collaboration with all partners and animate the relation by anticipating any know issues (pre-closing), as well as ensure fluid communication during closing period and formalize issues and present them in order to avoid them next time (post-closing)
  •  Contribute to continuous improvement of the control set-up and ensure permanent evolutions are realized in order to avoid manual adjustment
  • Formalization of team procedures and operating guides, which include: participation of training and coaching for new joiners; formalization of on-boarding materials; and active participation in management and department staff meetings
  • Contribute or lead projects related to the efficiency of the processes and systems, as well as propose new developments or improvements in the existing chain, in order to secure the processes and reduce the operational risk
  • Contribute to the Finance Arbitrage major project: replacement of the current General Ledger CODA with the Group Ledger OFS and assist on other Business & regulatory projects, which include: contribute to OFS project during the different phases (requirements/testing/shadow production/controls); participate to the training on the new tools and processes with OFS; and assist and control on Other Business & Regulatory projects in collaboration with the project team (participation to requirements/testing/specific control post migration or go-live)

Profile and Skills to Success

Become our new International Financial Reporting Controller based in Porto

Be part of our dynamic International Financial Control Team (IFC), in charge of the production of the financial statements, but not only, with a permanent care for transversality with the other departments or Services of the Accounting Division (e.g. France Accounting, Consolidation) or the other Finance Divisions of BNP PARIBAS CARDIF Group.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure that the IFRS consolidation package is delivered within the fixed delays and in accordance with the applicable regulation and standards;

The program begins with a week of professional training, which will help to enhance your technical and professional skills. About the Team 

This role will support two primary teams within the Global Markets Americas Chief Conduct and Controls Office (CCCO): 

  • Front Office Conduct & Surveillance (FOCS): team monitors trading & sales business activity and electronic Communications, with the objective of deterring, detecting, and preventing Conduct Risk breaches. Team develops automated tools for monitoring and performing customized data analytics.
  • Business Supervision & Controls (BS&C): team collaborates with Trading, Sales, Structuring, and Risks Management teams (2LOD) to help keep non-financial risks to an acceptable level. BS&C is a key component in the assessment and management of non-financial risks and implementation of the controls framework.

Department overview

BNP Paribas’ RISK department is in charge of supporting the definition of the risk appetite and risk decision-making process of the Group.

RISK Global Services teams is part of RISK, and aims to transversally develop optimized resources, platforms and common services that are adding value for all of RISK. Their activities cover transversally market, counterparty, credit and liquidity related topics. They assume their responsibilities in full cooperation with either RISK Business Domains or Global Practice teams, or else with subsidiaries or branches of the corresponding RISK teams. 

RISK Systems is part of RISK Global Services, and at Group level is responsible for risk capital markets IT systems. It combines development, business analysis (BA) and process reengineering skills as well as coordination support for innovation. Through its experience and polyvalent profiles (IT/Functional), RISK Systems is supporting the Backtesting and Calibration services in their continuous transformation, with an attention point on securing the transfer of new developments into production as the production frameworks are becoming more and more strictly governed.

RISK Operational Risk Management (RISK ORM) CIB acts as the second line of defence of BNP Paribas Corporate and Institutional Bank (CIB).   • This role is part of the newly created Portfolio Management Oversight team, within RISK Corporate Securitisation, whose includes Credit Decision (in addition to SCOs), Independent Portfolio Analysis, Stress Testing & Management Information Reporting, 2nd LoD PM Check & Challenge of 1st LoD PM

Your Main Activities Are

  • Providing RISK oversight to the wind-down of legacy ABS Portfolios of the bank, which includes undertaking quarterly IFRS9 provisions committee reviews, provision analysis and recommendations in liaison with the Business contributors within CIB
  • Production of quarterly IFRS9 Cost of Risk computations & periodic stress testing
  • Contribution to stress testing of Risk Weighted Assets, for securitization positions
  • Prudential valuation and liquidity reserve computation
  • Other ad hoc roles defined from time to time
  • Over time, key responsibilities will shift towards portfolio management, which include the following:
    1. Monitoring of existing transactions, which include a critical look over transactions’ metrics and limits, identification of performance trends and seeking allocated analyst’s opinion to clarify any observed trend and/or breach of limits. This also includes the identification of key trends of the portfolio by asset class
    2. In terms of reporting to different stakeholders’, liaise with specialist of each asset class in order to obtain latest update for that asset class. With time and knowledge of the portfolio/market, be able to provide such comments. These comments and/or dashboards should be provided in a timely manner, in addition to being accurate and relevant for each stakeholder
    3. Regarding annual reviews of transactions, provide yearly calendar of annual reviews and be in constant contact with Business to prevent overdue annual reviews and proposals being delivered with sufficient time before deadline
    4. For quarterly portfolio reviews, be responsible, on RISK side, for the review of the materials sent by Business and identification of potential signs of deterioration and/or mistakes in data (and seek its correction if needed).
