The initiative aims to be more than just a tennis tournament. The winning team will represent Portugal in the Paris Final that will happen in the courts of Roland-Garros.

Winning team will represent Portugal in the Paris Final that will happen in the courts of Roland-Garros.

After a three-year break, BNP Paribas hosted the fifth edition of We Are Tennis Cup, an international tennis tournament dedicated to all Group employees, regardless of their level of experience in the sport. The objective is to create a moment where everyone can have an opportunity to play in a good, positive and open environment, while promoting the values of cooperation and team spirit on and off the court.

The first phase of the tournament took place this weekend, at the National Sports Center of Jamor, and the winning team will have the opportunity to represent Portugal in the international final in Paris, at the legendary clay courts of Roland-Garros.

BNP Paribas is a major partner of world tennis, with a unique, long-standing commitment that began in 1973 and extends to every level of the sport – singles, doubles, wheelchair tennis, team and family sport – from beginner level up to the greatest professional tournaments. BNP Paribas has reinforced its strategic commitment to culture and on the seventh art by sponsoring the French Cinema Festival once again, which will take place from October 26 to November 20, in Lisbon.

By sponsoring the French Cinema Festival BNP Paribas is in line with the Group’s global strategy, which has been supporting this industry for the last 20 years, and which sees creativity and innovation as fundamental and shared values of its operations, consolidating its role as the largest European Bank dedicated to film sponsorship. This funding comes at a time of transformation for the film industry, which had to overcome many difficulties during the pandemic period, with many cinemas closed and productions delayed and cancelled all over the world.

“The innovative and disruptive spirit that cinema brings every day is part of the values shared by BNP Paribas, which values the role of culture as an essential feature of any society. We believe in the work of the French Film Festival as one of the fundamental stages in the expansion of French and European cinema, allowing easier access to projects that may not reach the generalized circuit of world cinema,” says Nicolas Barbier, Head of Company Engagement – BNP Paribas Portugal. “It is our intention to maintain this focus on culture, seeking to support the development of national and global talent, so that their creative vision can reach everyone, and be for everyone”.

French Cinema Festival is taking place from North to South of the country.

The 23rd French Film Festival will take place from October 26 to November 20, 2022, and will travel through ten national cities, helping the projects to reach all Portuguese citizens.

This way, the cities of Almada, Coimbra, Évora, Faro, Funchal, Lagos, Lisboa, Oeiras, Porto and Viseu are going to welcome the French Cinema Festival, after two years in which the sessions were conditioned by the effects of the pandemic.

On this year’s program, we highlight the presentation of national premieres; new films, a new section dedicated to gastronomy and a documentary programmed in partnership with the Association du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion (ACID). In total, more than 80 films will be screened, for all those interested in knowing a little more about what is done in French-speaking cinema.

This edition is even more special since the festival is part of the Portugal-France Season 2022, an initiative that aims to highlight the proximity and friendship that unite the two countries.

The French Cinema Festival is organized by the production company Jangada, in collaboration with the French Embassy, the Institut Français du Portugal, and the network of Alliances Françaises in Portugal.

BNP Paribas Portugal promotes the 7th edition of the “Diversity Week”, from 11th to 14th of October, to celebrate an inclusive culture. This internal event celebrates diversity in order to enhance the importance of encouraging an inclusive working and culture environment.

This year’s edition hosts internal meetings with a particular focus on technology, highlighting how artificial intelligence, augmented reality or digital tools can contribute and become important allies in developing a fairer society with more and better opportunities for all.

This initiative illustrates a committed and responsible policy on Diversity & Inclusion, which has guided BNP Paribas actions. For more than 15 years, the Group has set up a dedicated committee composed by 40 directors in the area of diversity, representing the 68 countries from all business lines.

A number of initiatives are held to promote Diversity & Inclusion throughout the year, such as the creation and integration of different collaborative communities focused on several aspects of the Group’s diversity policy:

  • Pride
  • Together
  • All Abroad
  • Women in Cyber
  • BOLD

In 2021, BNP Paribas Portugal developed this initiative with a number of workshops, discussions and panels to celebrate all the differences and to contribute to a positive mental health.

Date: 29 March, 1pm-4pm

Venue: BNP Paribas Torre Ocidente (BNP Paribas Headquarters, Lisbon)

The event aims to communicate job offers available at BNP Paribas, focusing on people with disabilities who seek to integrate or reintegrate the labour market.

In order to cultivate an open and positive work environment, BNP Paribas is organizing “Ability Day”, a job fair that will showcase all the job offers available at the Bank with the aim of encouraging applications from people with different types of disabilities. This fair, scheduled for March 29 and running from 1 pm to 4 pm, will be attended by 12 Associations and 24 Universities, thus seeking to reach as many people as possible. Registrations are open here.

The event will be an opportunity for all participants to meet some of the teams that are hiring as well as talk with BNP Paribas’ recruitment team to clarify doubts and curiosities about what it is like to work at the Bank. The goal is to ensure that, after these moments of sharing and discussion, potential candidates can be fast-tracked to recruitment processes.

“Ability Day” is mainly aimed at people with disabilities, including visual impairment, hearing impairment, motor disability or autism spectrum disorders, as well as Associations and entities that promote the integration of these people in the labour market.

We held this event to communicate the existing job positions available at the Bank while showing that they are open to everyone. We believe that, in this way, we can fight against prejudice in a very concrete way showing that people with disabilities can, of course, be incorporated into the labour market” says Carla Jorge da Costa, Head of Recruitment and Talent Sourcing at BNP Paribas Portugal.

Diversity and Inclusion are fundamental vectors in BNP Paribas’ DNA

This initiative is part of a committed and responsible Diversity & Inclusion policy that has guided BNP Paribas’ operations for several years. In this context, the Bank promotes various initiatives, including being a signatory to the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Global Business and Disability Network Charter. With this action, BNP Paribas promotes the employment of people with disabilities, takes measures to ensure job retention and encourages universal accessibility, having signed its 4th agreement in 2020 to renew its commitment to the professional integration of people with disabilities.

In its first edition this year, “Ability Day” aims to raise awareness that job openings are available to all potential candidates.

By holding this event, we want to communicate open positions we have available and, at the same time, demonstrate that we have the conditions to receive everyone who wishes to apply” says Sylvie Le Pottier, Head of Human Resources at BNP Paribas Portugal. “We have partnerships with different associations that allow us to work on an inclusive recruitment programme and we are very proud to have so many entities with us at this fair, like Associação Salvador, ASHBIP, Café Joyeux and many others. At the Bank, we work every day to ensure a genuine culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates“, Sylvie concludes.

With 12 Associations confirmed, this fair organized by BNP Paribas aims to reach the largest number of people, Associations and even organizations. If you would like to participate, please click the link below:

Aiming to promote a fairer and more inclusive society, we challenged different entities and partners to a conversation about how we can, among all, effectively contribute towards the inclusion of various forms of diversity, keeping the focus on valuing individuality.

On 31 March, at 10am (Lisbon Time), we will talk about plurality and the acceptance of diversity in the job market, at the conference “Palco para Todos” (Stage for All), an online event open to the public, upon previous registration.

Moderated by BNP Paribas, in this conversation we will be joined by JRS Portugal – Jesuit Refugee Service, sharing their vast work in the integration of refugees into Society; Café Joyeux with the perspective of including neuro-diverse people in the job market; Rock in Rio, showing the importance of social inclusion and the fundamental role of organisations towards social inclusion in their surrounding communities; Associação Salvador, on the inclusion of people with physical disabilities; and, finally, a perspective on gender brought to us by the HeForShe Movement.

The annual thought leadership event of BNP Paribas CIB, Leading Change, took place on 6 November, in Portugal. “Blue Economy: An Ocean of Opportunities?” was the theme of this year´s edition, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by the economy of the seas and  adopting a virtual setting supported by cutting edge technology.

Counting with the presence of Craig Leeson, BNP Paribas Global Sustainability Partner, the event presented a roundtable of leading professionals working on different businesses lines connected with the economy of the seas, moderated by Pierre Rousseau, BNP Paribas Strategic Advisor for Sustainable Business Solutions.
